Thompson Square Makes it Look So Good

It’s all in the performance right? Whether it is a band, a duo, or a solo artist. The performance on stage is what brings the lyrics you hear through the radio to life. How an artist either interacts with the audience and/or their co lead vocalist or the guitarist brings the live experience to the next level. Singing the lyrics is only half the job. It’s in the delivery, really making the audience feel the words that are being said.

One of the best duos when it comes to performance interaction would be Shawna and Keifer of Thompson Square. They probably have an edge over other band mates because Shawna and Keifer are husband and wife. Happily married we know that they aren’t acting when they sing If I Didn’t Have You or their new single You Make it Look So Good. It’s a different kind of feeling knowing that these two are married 17 years and Keifer still looks over at Shawna on stage like she is everything to him. There are some good actors in the music industry. Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott when they sing Just a Kiss seems picture perfect on stage with the two leaning in for, but never actually kissing. If you didn’t know every member of Lady Antebellum has different significant others and adorable children. However, Keifer and Shawna are the real deal and will tease with each other on stage, but then Shawna will give in and give Keifer a kiss, like she did after they faced each other for the last verse of If I Didn’t Have You. If you didn’t hear it, there was a universal Awe in the crowd at that moment and after the encore Keifer dipped Shawna backward for a final end of show kiss. Who doesn’t love seeing two artists still so infatuated with each other after all these years? Okay, maybe it makes you a little jealous, but mostly it is nice to see that love still burning strong. Not only still loving each other, but so happy and excited to be back on the road. The two recently got back on the road after Shawna gave birth to their baby boy Cooper four months ago. Yes, the duo is officially a trio, and Cooper already made his video debut in the home video for the new single You Make It Look So Good. A song someone at their label brought to their attention, both of them knew it sounded like something they would write, and knew they had to cut it for the next album. Keifer explained before meeting Shawna he never thought about settling down or having kids. It just goes to show you what you thought you wanted isn’t reality until you meet the right person. A life you thought you never considered isn’t imaginable without the person you found to share it with forever: You got me wondering what it might be like knowing every night who I’m waking up with on the other side of the bed.

I was surprised to learn they didn’t write this one together, but it fits their story well and you continue to see the truth in it with every love song they perform and bring to life. Singing and performing their love story has done the duo well. From their first number 1 If I Didn’t Have You to the song that inspired the novel Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not to the newest single You Make it Look So Good that tells the story of it all not making sense unless you found that perfect second half.
